Going on a Holiday

But first, a family outing to Tipplers

So it’s officially offichttp://journeyswithkaia.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/IMG_23271.jpgial. We’re taking our show on the road. Or, as Kaia would say, “we’re going on a holiday”. After more than five months of putting black marks through calendar squares, the big D(eparture) Day looms less than six days away.

A year in South America, here we come.

But not so fast. It seems that after so much planning, organizing and discussion among immediate friends and family—and no last minute reneging seemingly imminent on our part—quality together time has been the order of the day.

As such, today would prove extra special with brother-in-law Captain Michael Hardie taking thehttp://journeyswithkaia.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/IMG_23431.jpg clan out to for an afternoon cruise to Tipplers Café on South Stradbroke Island.

I’d never been there before, but I’d heard a lot about the place in our nearly seven years here. In its heyday the place apparently picked up quite the reputation. So much so, the Gold Coast City Council saw fit to shut the place down for a long while, which, depending on who you speak with, is still a matter of great debate in these parts.

http://journeyswithkaia.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/IMG_23491.jpgRegardless, as today was testimony to, the cafe is back up and running again, the beer’s are plenty cold and, if my fish sandwich was anything to go on, the place is definitely on the up and up.

And the live music isn’t half bad, either. What more can you ask for?

But what do I know? Like I already said, never having been there beforhttp://journeyswithkaia.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/IMG_23291-e1457272701172.jpge, I don’t exactly have much to compare today’s experience with.

Yet, whatever I may have missed out on back in the proverbial long gone ‘good ol’ days’, I have a feeling was made up for today. Compensated with the company of family and by the fact I’ll always be able to remember my first Tipplers visit as being Kaia’s inaugural visit as well.

And the best part?

It’s a scenario that seems destined to play itself out A LOT over the upcoming year in South America.
